British Nationalism
British nationalism asserts that the British are a nation and promotes the cultural unity of Britons. An interesting concept which assumes there is some common genetic foundation which ignores the Picts, Viking and certainly the French-Viking infusion after the successful invasion and defeat of the Anglo-Saxons by the Duke of Normandy in 1066. Subsequent waves of immigration to these islands only dilute the idea of Britishness even further. British nationalism is closely associated with British unionism, which seeks to uphold the political union that is the United Kingdom, or strengthen the links between the countries of the United Kingdom. The problem however is that British Nationalism is dominated by English Nationalism elements of which seek to establish the primacy of English culture at the expense of the other nations in the islands of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.
