Greenwashing

Climate change is a Boiling Frog problem, literally. The changes are happening on timescales greater than a single person experiences, particularly if they are politicians. So, unlike other natural disasters the slow unfolding of the damage does not stimulate a level of action commensurate with the scale of the problem. Instead it's quite the opposite. Most people are quite unprepared to take the steps necessary to mitigate the damage - no more cheap flights or foreign holidays, for example. Instead, while recognising that there is a problem - there is plenty of grandstanding and moralising to cover up the lack of decisiveness and inaction. Greenwashing is a particularly odious activity. Instead of tackling the problem, it's designed to make it look like action is being taken when the reality it's half-hearted or worse still simply propaganda to make continuing as before.
