IndyRef2
After the No vote in IndyRef1 in 2014 the number of people supporting independence has grown and with it calls for another referendum. There have been calls to reject this saying that the 2014 vote was once in a generation. However if the UK claims to be a democratic nation it cannot continue deny Scots the option of a referendum. Indeed, the Good Friday Agreement for Northern Ireland legally enshrines the rights of the population to vote for re-unification with the the Republic of Ireland and defines a generation as not less than 7 years. With that time passed and the recent problems with austerity and the COVID-19 pandemic there's an increasing feeling that only Scots can look after their own interested. Pressure for a new referendum is building.
