NEC

The SNP's leadership is vested in its National Executive Committee (NEC), which is made up of the party's National Office Bearers, members elected by the National Conference and representatives of Affiliated Organisations. It has attracted a lot of controversy in the recent past as the influence of the membership and regional representatives has decreased and the control by the party leadership and influence of Affiliated Organisation has increased. There are increasing calls for the structure of the NEC to be reformed, reducing the the role of the Affiliated Organisations and returning the committee back to its more democratic roots.
