Self Determination

The devolved administration in Holyrood was intended to give Scots a say in their own affairs. However when it comes to the big ticket items Westminster still has total control over what the Scottish Government can and cannot do. The reason is simple, money. Like pocket money handed out to a child, the Treasury in Westminster doles out cash for the Scottish Government and as a result has a large say in how much is spent and what it is spent on. With so many strings attached addressing problems that are specific to Scotland is simply not possible. The Four Nations approach, of which the First Minister is so fond of further ties the hands of government, ensuring that nobody steps out of line with respect to what Westminster wants. Under this system, having control of your own affairs is simply unattainable. Only independence will do.
